What’s next…
In whatever situation we are, we often ask the question “what else is in store for me”. I have to say I’m a lucky guy in this respect, I have a brilliant job and I’m often able to pursue my own ideas and projects. This is awesome and I am very grateful, nevertheless for a long time I still felt that “the next thing” is somewhere out there, waiting for me.
Share. Motivate. Educate.
Over the years, I discovered what really makes me happy: To share what I’ve learned, to motivate others and to help them to be creative.
Of course, I will always be a photographer, but I dive more and more into teaching workshops and seminars, and I would love to be even more active, public speaking engagements and all. As they say, you have to set goals, so here we go!
Good idea, but…
Don’t you love it when people start sentences with this phrase? Well, let’s see: “Good idea, but to teach, you need more than just a love for it”. Really? I wish some of my teachers would have loved what they do and shown me a bit more passion in the past.
This aside, teaching is actually nothing new for me. The first time I was in front of a class was 20 years ago, while working as technical marketing consultant for Hewlett-Packard. As part of my job, I was educating the sales team and major retailers about the latest and greatest technologies coming from the hightech company. It was exciting and challenging, but I wasn’t completely happy. Back then, I didn’t understand that it was the subject matter which didn’t click for me.
When other opportunities presented themselves, my life followed other paths, and it took me two decades and very different jobs to end up back in the teaching shoes. I’m older and more experienced today, but most importantly: I found what truly inspires me: People and Photography.
So, here I am, ready for the next chapter, with many exciting new things coming your way as well. The first 4 episodes of my photography show “10 from the couch” are online, and we are currently producing the next episodes, to go live very soon. Later this year, I’ll also be launching a new free weekly online project, but more about this as we get closer to release.
If you’re interested to be involved, seminar organisers, corporations, schools, agencies, Ted gurus, don’t hesitate and contact me!
